2017-11-07

UPPMAX experienced a power outage in the server hall on Tuesday.

UPPMAX is experiencing a power outage in the server hall. We suspect most, if not all, systems to be affected.

UPDATE 2017-11-07 17:00

Still no power. UPPMAX aims to begin restoring systems tomorrow morning, assuming the power is back. The cause of this problem is still not known.

UPDATE 2017-11-07 17:20

The cause is believed to be construction work outside of the Ångström laboratory where the server hall is located. An excavator is believed to have cut the main power lines.

UPDATE 2017-11-08 07:00

Power was restored yesterday evening. We are now working on getting the systems back up running and check their status.

UPDATE 2017-11-08 09:00

We're experiencing some network problems. We don't yet know if there was any damage on the systems and we hope to be up by today.

UPDATE 2017-11-08 13:00

One switch was broken due to the power outage, causing the network problems we experienced. It's fixed now.

We proceed by getting our storage and compute resources up. Unless anything else was broken, we expect to be fully recovered by the end of the day.

UPDATE 2017-11-08 14:30

Rackham, Milou, and Fysast1 is back up. Jobs can be submitted and will start as soon as the compute nodes are available.

We are still working to get the other systems up.

UPDATE 2017-11-08 17:00

Irma and Bianca are also up and running now.

This means all systems at UPPMAX are available to use. If you run into problems, you can contact support@uppmax.uu.se as usual.
